Questions to ask any pool builder.

Getting a few quotes? Great idea. Ask everyone these questions, us included. The answers tell you a lot about who you're hiring.

Can I see the design in my own yard before I sign?

Our answer: absolutely. We measure your yard and build a 3D design around it, and you can make changes until it's right. You only sign once you've seen exactly what you're getting. You can even start sketching ideas now in our pool designer.

Who will I actually be working with?

Our answer: the owner. The person who designs your pool is the one who runs your build and answers your calls. No getting passed around.

Will you tell me if something won't work?

Our answer: yes, before you spend a dollar. If an idea doesn't fit your yard, your soil, or your budget, we'll tell you and show you what will.

How much experience is behind the build?

Our answer: our family has been building Texas pools for more than 30 years. The owner started on job sites at 13, has helped build more than 400 pools, and knows every stage from the dig to the gunite. Read our story.

What happens after the pool is filled?

Our answer: we'll walk you through your equipment and water care so you feel confident from day one, then check in about a month later to see how everything's running.

How long does it take to build a pool?

Once permits are approved, construction usually takes a couple of months. Rain, inspections, and bigger add-ons like an outdoor kitchen can stretch that. Your proposal will include a realistic timeline for your project.

When is the best time of year to build?

Fall and winter are great times to start. Builders are less busy, and your pool can be ready by the time Texas summer shows up. Spring is the busiest season, so plan ahead if you want to swim by summer.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval?

Almost always. Most cities and counties require a permit for a new pool, and many neighborhoods also require HOA approval before you dig. The rules depend on where you live, including whether your lot is in a floodplain, and we'll help you understand what applies to your address.

How much does a pool cost?

Custom gunite pools in the Houston area typically run $60,000 to $120,000, and renovations typically run $6,000 to $60,000. Size, features, and your yard all move the number. See our pricing for more detail.

Why gunite instead of fiberglass or vinyl?

Gunite is built on site around a custom steel frame, so it can be almost any shape, size, or depth, and it's built to last for decades. Fiberglass and vinyl pools come in set shapes and sizes. Here's why we build in gunite.

Will clay soil crack my pool?

Much of the land between Houston and Austin is clay that swells when it's wet and shrinks when it's dry. That movement is why the steel structure matters so much. We plan the structure around your soil and site from the start. See what goes inside a pool wall.

What does a pool cost to keep up?

It depends on the size of your pool, your equipment, and whether you hire a weekly service. Energy-efficient pumps and automation can lower your running costs, and we'll walk you through your options during design.

Do you offer financing?

We don't offer financing directly right now. Many homeowners use a pool loan, a home equity loan, or savings, and we're happy to share your written proposal with your lender.

Do you renovate existing pools?

Yes. We do new finishes, tile and coping, decking, added features like spas and tanning ledges, and full makeovers. See renovations.

What areas do you serve?

Greater Houston and the towns along US-290 to Austin, including Cypress, Katy, Tomball, Brenham, and Austin. Not sure if you're in range? Send us your address.
